Every year, MALICA defines its research focus to catch up with current demand and situation.
In 2007 & 2008
With the purpose of improving the correlation between local food production and urban demand, in quantity and quality, MALICA focused on three research areas:·
1. Domestic market dynamics
2. Food quality
3. Distribution, quality and poverty
Some remarkable projects that MALICA had involved include:
1. DURAS project: Improving pig and pig meat marketing chain to enable small producers to serve consumer needs in Vietnam and Cambodia
2. WTO and food chains: Anticipated impact of WTO and regional rules on some domestic food value chains in Vietnam

3. M4P project: Making markets work better for the poor
4. SUSPER project: Sustanable Development of Peri-urban Agriculture in South-East Asia (Kingdom of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam RS)
